John Hyden is one of the all time greats in the worlds of indoor volleyball and beach volleyball. He holds many records in the sport including being the oldest player to win an AVP title. He is a two time olympian, a defensive specialist, and an inspiration to so many volleyball players around the world.  

Our favorite takeaways from this podcast are the defensive tactics played with the blocker and the defender working together. Many advanced players are familiar with blocking calls that include fake blocks as a deceptive tool but John Hyden shares some blocking tactics performed on an elite level that include a bait and switch tactic. This goes a little more in depth by profiling the attacking player as more of a hard hitter or a player who likes to shoot the ball. Take some wind into consideration and you have the makings of a complex defensive strategy.
